Singapore -  Day 5

Today we are going to go to the Cat Cafe to work on blogs.

But first, we went to get carrot cake at Albert Centre. This is the 4th time I have had fried carrot cake in Singapore from this hawker stand and it is the same all the time, Awesome!

I counted how many eggs fried carrot cake guy had used already after working 2 hours straight. The answer 108 eggs. 

After the yummy brekky, we passed through the Bugis Market and I got a solar panel hat/fan and a nice watch. 

We were the only ones at The Cat Cafe for a couple hours and got to see the cats really hungry (because they had not had food in 17 hours!).  I asked how often they feed the cats, they feed the cats 3 times a day, 11 am, 3 pm and 6 pm. All of the cats have there own dish of food and keep to themselves the whole time. 

It is hard to write blogs with cats, but it also makes blog writing more fun!

Then after spending several fun hours working and playing with the cats we went back to the hotel to bring back the computers and get tickets for Gardens By The Bay. Out tickets were good for the Cloud Dome and the Flower Dome. We went into the Flower Dome first, where there were cactus's and nice wooden sculptures modeled after Alice and Wonderland.  One of the exhibits in the Flower Dome was 1,000 year old trees that are still alive and going strong. I took a ton of pictures of all the flowers that I saw. Here are a few:

I could have spent days looking at all the flowers. 

But, sadly, we had to leave to see the cloud garden.

I walked into the cloud garden and I all I could say was WOW. 

There was an amazing waterfall... and more flowers!

Today we went to Chinatown! 

We walked to Chinatown from our hotel. On the way, we found a restaurant called The Salted Plum. We were hungry, so we decided to stop. We ordered a pork belly rice bowl, sticky ribs, and fried chicken. They were all great. For dessert we got a complimentary red tea jellies, creme and tapioca balls, all together it was surprisingly pretty good. 

The one place that I really wanted to go in Singapore was Mao Shan Wang Cafe. It is a cafe that I found on Insider that serves everything durian. If you don't know what durian is, it is a really smelly fruit. It is so smelly that you can't even take it on the subway in Singapore, but it has the consistency of butter and tastes much better than it smells. My Dad said we probably wouldn't be able to go, because my Mom hates the smell of durian. But, to my surprise, we got to go. Yay!

 My Dad decided to have the Durian fudge cake and I had the Durian pizza. The Durian fudge cake was light creamy and sweet with the Durian paste and the yellow cake.  The Durian pizza is like nothing I have ever had before it had a charocal dough, mozzerella and Durian paste and my Mom did not try anything because she is a hater of Durian. 

When we left the cafe and were heading to the shopping area, I saw a Ferrari! I try to take pictures of Ferrari's, corvettes, and other exotic cars whenever I see them. I took a  bunch of pictures of the blue Ferrari. It was really pretty.

Then we went clothes shopping! My Mom got a scarf thingie and my Dad got 2 nice Chinese jackets (one blue and one red and yellow). We were all so hot from walking around and shopping (well my Mom and Dad were), so we went to a bar so my Mom and Dad could get some cocktails. While they were drinking their cocktails and I was drinking my ice cold water, I went on the internet. I found a mixology class in London. It is themed after potions class in Harry Potter but with drinks. It is called the Cauldron and I showed the video to my Mom and Dad and we might go when we are in London.

When my Dad and Mom were done drinking,we headed to Hawker Chan. I love Hawker Chan. One of the reasons I love it is because it is the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant  in the world. Hawker Chan is known for its Chicken and rice that is $1.69 USD. We ordered chicken and rice. Actually you have to order 2 if you don't like a part of the chicken that you get. Anyway we ordered chicken and rice, chicken and noodle and pork belly. The pork belly was out of this world it was crispy and had just the right amount of balance between crispy skin and meat. The chicken and rice was incredible (as always) the chicken was cooked to perfection and the rice had a good sauce poured over it that paired beautifully with the chicken. 

After we went to Hawker Chan we walked home and on our way we stopped at Bugis Centre. We purchased durian gummies, mangosteen gummies, mango gummies, salted caramel potato chips and durian cookies. I am hoping to share these goodies with the new friends that I will meet on the cruise ship. 

Then we headed back to the hotel where I fell asleep almost instantly.

 Today for breakfast we had Starbucks! My Mom woke up super early and went to Starbucks and got me a spinach and cheese quiche. It was so good. But that was just to tide me over for the bigger breakfast that I was going to have... Dim-Sum!  


We walked to one of the best Dim- Sum places in our area: Swee Choon. On the way to Swee Choon we passed a Bengal Cat petting place, it wasn't open but we would look more into it on our way back. When we walked into the Dim-Sum place they had all these door bells next to the tables. They were for when they got really busy, the customer could ring the bell and server would come. Sadly our server was there most of the time so I did not get to ring the bell. We ordered: Har Kow, Shu mai, Pork dumplings (we ordered another one because they were so good), pork spare ribs, Peking dumplings. When we were sitting and waiting for our food I saw a guy put noodles into a pot. So I looked over a bit more and saw he was making noodles from scratch! So, we had to add spicy noodles with chive dumplings onto our order. Everything was great! 

They had a spicy sauce that was great with everything.  Every single one of the dishes that we ordered was amazing, but the noodles were the best (partly because I got to see the noodles being made).  The noodle guy looked at me when I was eating the noodles and I gave him a big thumbs up. 


When dessert came around we got coconut pudding and litchi with tofu. The coconut pudding was my favorite by far. Everything about it was perfect. It wasn't too sweet and tasted like a real coconut, it was even served in a coconut. The litchi pudding was okay, but not great. 


After we were done with Dim-Sum we headed back towards the bengal cats. When we walked by before Dim-Sum they were not open, but they were supposed to open at noon. When we got there, all the curtains were closed and the closed sign was on the door. But the sign next to the door said that this was the time that they were open, so my Mom looked through the window. There was a person inside, so she knocked on the door. A guy opened the door and let us in. They guy told us that they were open, but by appointment only. Thankfully, he let us stay. It was $5 SGD per person for 20 minutes. They had 2 cats out, Night who was a very calm Bengal cat that was 4 (she was my favorite) and Claudia a very playful 2 year old bengal cat.  When I was walking around taking pictures, I saw a little kitten peaking it's head out the door and I got a picture of it. 

 

There were all these beautiful bengal cats inside an enclosed area. There was even a hamster wheel. We couldn't pet these cats because they were already sold, but we could take pictures of them. The 20 minutes we up before I knew it, but thankfully I got tons of pictures and videos of the cats being adorable. 


After playing with the bengal cats we walked to Tekka market again. My Mom had brought a dress that needed to be tailored. She got the dress the last time that we were in Singapore. When we were walking to the tailor we saw a peacock skirt that my Mom liked. It didn't fit her, but they were cheap, so we bought 2 and took them to the tailor to make it into one skirt. 

We knew that it would take a little bit for the tailor to get every thing sewed together. So we went downstairs and got some drinks. I got a Mango Lassi (but I did not like it so I wound up geetting as ice cold water). My Mom got a ginger tea with a lot of milk and my Dad got a coke light and a Chendol which contains coconut milk, green worms (not really they were made out of rice flour jelly) and palm sugar syrup. It reminded him of cereal milk. 

While my Dad drank his coke light and Chendol we went upstairs to look at the cheap Indian shirts.  We found a shop that sold cheap, pretty and good quality Indian shirts. I found a color that I liked and tried it on only to find out that it was way to small. Then we told the sales man that I was 4 sizes bigger and he gave me the same size in a different color. Finally he gave me the right size and the right color and I got a red Indian shirt. After got the shirt we went to meet my Dad to pick up the dress and skirt for the tailors. Then my Mom tried it on and it fit nicely.

Afterwards, we headed to the movie theater and saw "Ready Player One". It was an amazing movie, I highly recommend to see it if you already haven't. We headed for dinner at Albert center after we saw "Ready Player One". There were not many stalls open so we got noodle soup (I got spicy soup and my Mom got very bland soup). It was really good. Then we were all exhausted so we headed to the hotel and went to bed.

We got up and went to Albert center again and got some black fried carrot cake. While we were eating the carrot cake we had fun watching the birds eating at another table. I mean, really, the bird was in the bowl eating soup. It was crazy.





Then after breakfast we walked to the Tekka Market in Little India. First we went to the fruit market and walked around. Then we stopped to get something to drink. And then, finally, we went clothes shopping! 

We walked around the huge market where all the dresses were stored and found the same guy who my Mom bought an Indian tunic shirt from last time we were in the Tekka Market.  My Mom purchased 5 more shirts and 1 got one, too. While we were there, I tried on some dresses and I discovered a  new style that I really liked. Sadly the guy only had the dress in red and my Dad wanted it to match my eyes. So my Dad said that when I was older and had a hangover that the red Indian dress would match my eyes. Not funny Dad!. 

We searched around for different color but similar style of dress. We wound up finding it at the place that we bought my Indian dress last year! Instead of the Indian dress being blue (like my eyes) I got it in black and gold, I love it! 

When we were walking out of the huge dress market we saw a men's suit that was styled after the Black Panther suit. My Mom and I liked it a lot but my Dad didn't care for it very much. He liked the more decorated ones. 

After we were done looking at the Indian clothes, my Mom decided that she was hungry. So we went to Wing Seong Fatty's or better known as just Fatty's. We had 2 big spring rolls that were amazing and Peking duck with cucumbers that was out of this world.

When we were all done eating at Fatty's my Mom and I headed to The Cat Cafe and my Dad went back to the Hotel and took a nap. My Mom and I had gone to The Cat Cafe the previous year, when we had gone toSingapore, and we loved it. We went back and there were several new cats. It was just as good as the time before, maybe even a bit better. The owner of The Cat Cafe decided to keep his cat permanently at The Cat Cafe because he spends most of his waking hours here. His cats name is Butter and she is so cute and very gentle. My favorite cat there (Tommy) wasn't even there half of the time. He was hiding in the litter box room so that nobody would bother him. Finally he came out when it was feeding time. 

After my Dad finished his nap, we left The Cat Cafe and headed to Gardens By The Bay. We headed up to the bar that was on top of one of the Supertrees! 

My Mom, Dad and I all got a free drink because we bought one of the bracelets to go up there (12 and under $12 SGD over 12 $20 SGD). I got some pineapple juice but it was way too sweet, my Mom got a cranberry and vodka drink and my Dad got whiskey and coke. We also ordered some food sadly the food was not included, we got: chicken wings, litchi and pork belly ball with sauce (it was really weird), a ball of fried mashed potatoes with truffle aioli, and crispy scallop rolls. 

There was an amazing view from the Supertree and an amazing view of the sunset. After we had are food and my Mom and dad had a couple more cocktails we headed down to see the light show. The light show is usually with a bunch of random songs and the trees have lights that go with the music. But this time it was Disney music that the trees "danced" to (including the tree we were just sitting in!) Sadly the Supertree show ended at Gardens By The Bay and we headed back to our hotel.
